What are the most effective HR networking platforms?

Hi Neeraj,

For business networking I use Linkedin.com and egroups based on Yahoo and Google Groups. For focusing on building a personal brand and showcasing expertise blogging is the best.

For connecting with people on a personal level Twitter, Facebook and Orkut is the best.

Of course, I hope that one day this Forum becomes a very effective forum for HR professionals to network together!

Indeed. This seems to be very good for Indian networking; and if it succeeds in that - then, well done. However, I would like to see a more international presence on the boards as well - so those of you that do have international friends and professional contacts; lets see them invited to join here as well.

Hi Neeraj,

For business networking, I would like to emphasize on the 'offline' platforms such as local Management Associations, NHRD, and even an offline forum that you may start with your friends in HR domain in the city, and then create a yahoo group just to facilitate communication.

Other online tools such as Plaxo, this ning.com group, linkedin, orkut, facebook, help in reaching and communicating with people in geographically separated places.

IMHO offline meeting platforms are better for "business" networking :) while online platforms are good for "knowledge" networking.

I wonder about online networking forms , they are good in knowing your peers , what they are upto etc.
But for nothing more than that , for really connecting with people professional network bodies like local chapters of SHRM , HR groups symposiums help more .
