I remember coming across one statement which I felt is so true. It said “Remember that a man’s Name is to him the sweetest and most important sound in any language”.
Yet there are many of us who within minutes of introduction to a person forget their names, worse despite being embarrassed in all such situations, try little to possessing an elephant’s memory. And when it comes to HR folks, this is one tool that is supposed to be congenital.
I have known this very efficient a HR Manager, but he…

Here is a quick story for you. A mid-market human resource executive schedules an agenda item for the next month’s senior management and board meeting. The proposal is to create a Corporate University to address meeting the company’s performance objectives. The initial reactions to this agenda item from the CEO, CFO and COO ranged from “are you nuts?”… “in today’s economic climate”…. ”expensive”….”limited appeal and utility”…. “no short-term benefits”….. to ”looks like it’s time to look for new…

People who know or have heard about OSHO (earlier known as Bhagwan Shri Rajneesh) have different opinions and it is quite normal. Some people call him controversial sex guru and some people call him the modern day mystic and great thinker. There are innumerable people who have been benefited by his meditation techniques and healing therapies at Osho Multiversity and started seeing world non-seriously, without being judgmental. I am not his follower but I do admire his work which is quite interes…

With my nearly 20 years of professional experience within the franchising business arena, it is safe to say that the traditional and existing franchisor training has failed its two most important constituents: 1) Customers and 2) Franchisees. The central tenet for franchisors to provide immersive training around key events is flawed and the manual-based operations courses are outdated methods to deliver daily success.
The inability to provide…(more)…

The ultimate objective for corporate training professionals is to provide learners with a continuous learning experience to increase proficiency and expertise to achieve desired business results. No small task for small and medium sized businesses as well larger corporations. Most companies have been constrained by their existing systems (e.g. antiquated LMS, stand-alone intranet applications, etc) or lack the tools to effectively deliver against this corporate training objective. The ability to…

Small and mid-market HR Executives face a daunting challenge in providing transformational leadership with limited/reduced budgets and resources. These executives must perform superhuman feats to address their organization's key needs to achieve business objectives by addressing 8 hidden E's:

If the unemployment rate is sufficiently serious that it is the subject of open discussion, then how high can stress levels go in the workplace in China?.
It’s a pertinent question because it is HR that will be expected to provide the answer. Then craft a solution.
China HR staffers were already under a heavy load before the current crisis. There was a high volume of hiring; there was the time consuming on-boarding process; there was documentation, training and payroll; and finally there was m…

Onboarding, the process of acquainting a new hire into an organization, has often been a time consuming process. Paperwork needs to be filled out, drug testing completed, health plans selected.
With all the work required to hire a new employee, “it may take upwards of 45 days or more before that individual becomes productive in the job that they were hired to do,” D.J. Chhabra, president of Enwisen, told SHRM Online rece…

So there I was talking to some of my friends, who are HR professionals, who always look at me at bewilderment when the topic turns towards social media and networking.
One of them shook his head and said "Why do you even bother? How is it going to help anyone in HR?"
The conversation meandered along. I tried explaining the Cluetrain manifesto , the Long Tail , the Wisdom of the Crowds , Swarm Intelligence and Emergence , the move from Control to Collaboration and Transparency.
However I reali…

As long as there is some-one in your friend-circle earning more than you , you are bound to be unhappy. Firm don't want you to be unhappy and hence forbid you to discuss about compensation.
Humor apart , but back in India I found that this is common topic around water-cooler among friends. I was never aware of the sensitivity of the topic till last week.
